Our Team
Jeff Zalta, LCSW
Jeff understands the human experience can be difficult, including a wide spectrum of thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors, and he holds empathy for this experience at the heart of his practice. Jeff creates a new therapy to meet each client's needs and tempo because he believes problems are often multifaceted and individualized, existing in personal, family, and social historic contexts. He feels one's story should be heard and explored at their own pace. While Jeff creates a safe and empathetic environment for his clients, he also brings a realistically optimistic spirit to the therapy room to foster resilience, self-efficacy, and empowerment.
Jeff incorporates elements of evidence-based practice, relational therapy, practical skill building, philosophy, deep processing, and psychodynamic therapy into his work. He received his master's in clinical social work from Hunter college and began his clinical training at a middle school and community mental health clinic in Brooklyn and later in Woodstock, New York. He continually pursues clinical excellence through advanced training and supervision in modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Relational Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Rumination-Focused ERP, helping clients create meaningful change in their personal, professional, and emotional lives. Jeff draws from these varied experiences to help his clients navigate through anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, feelings of being stuck, loneliness, PTSD and more.
